Heather Rivas, CPA, CFP®

Heather Rivas is a Wealth Advisor with River Wealth Advisors. In this role, Heather works with clients to develop personalized financial plan based on their long-term financial objectives and current economic situation. She then advises clients on an ongoing basis to bring their plan to life, including providing guidance around tax and investment opportunities that are aligned with their goals.

Heather previously worked for PSECU, where she served as the Controller, overseeing the accounting and financial reporting areas of the organization. Prior to that, she was an auditor in public accounting for over 12 years. Heather served a variety of clients, but her primary focus was on the financial institutions industry. 

Heather graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting from Shippensburg University. She holds a CPA license, Series 65 license, and received the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ accreditation from the CFP Board. CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification is the standard of excellence in financial planning. CFP® professionals meet rigorous education, training and ethical standards, and are committed to serving their clients' best interests today to prepare them for a more secure tomorrow.

Heather serves on United Way of the Capital Region’s Youth Day of Caring committee. She was a former committee member and chair of the American Cancer Society’s “Farm to Table” Dinner, the PICPA Schools and Colleges Committee, and she completed Leadership Harrisburg Area’s Community Leadership Series. Outside of work, Heather enjoys being outdoors, walking, relaxing by a pool, traveling and exploring new places, and spending time with family and friends.

What do you enjoy most about your current job?

Sharing my knowledge and helping and watching those around me continue to learn and grow.

What do you love most about being part of river wealth advisors?

The opportunities and support provided to ensure success.

What are your favorite hobbies?

Anything outdoors, including walking, biking, grilling, swimming, playing with my kiddos; traveling and getting to see and explore new places; watching and supporting my son’s love for sports; spending time with friends and family; cooking.

what is your favorite book?

I am a bit of a romantic when it comes to reading, so probably anything by Nicholas Sparks.

what was your first job?

I worked at the Harrisburg International Airport in the restaurant, gift shop and snack shop.

what are your bucket list vacation spots?

Maldives, Fiji (I really want to stay at one of those little huts over the water), Iceland, Spain, Italy, Lake Tahoe...there are so many, I could just keep going!

What's the best advice you've ever received?

Always shoot for the moon because even if you miss, you will land amongst the stars!
