Edward O'Gorman, MBA, CFA®
The experience Edward (Ed) O’Gorman has gained over a career in diverse financial management positions is pivotal in helping River Wealth Advisors’ clients navigate economic downturns and market fluctuations. Clients benefit from his straightforward, consultative approach, and analytical insights.
Along with Robert (Bob) Caplan, Ed opened River Wealth Advisors in 2015. He served as the firm’s Chief Investment Officer and wealth advisor until September 2021, when Bob transitioned his ownership to Ed and Rebecca McClure. Now Chief Executive Officer, Ed also continues as the firm’s Chief Investment Officer and wealth advisor serving clients in Central Pennsylvania, the Lehigh Valley, and across the country. As CEO, Ed focuses on translating his vision for the firm’s future into our strategic plan, driving our client and growth strategies. Additionally, he cultivates strategic relationships with business and community partners to build upon our presence in our markets and give back to our community.
Ed began his career in the banking industry, managing large institutional fixed-income portfolios. In addition to more than a decade of service in banking and institutional investment management, he also has extensive experience managing personal, trust, and private equity portfolios. Immediately prior to co-founding River Wealth Advisors, Ed served as a portfolio manager at another local Registered Investment Advisor firm.
Ed holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Villanova University and a Master of Business Administration degree with a Finance emphasis from Pennsylvania State University. An active member of the CFA® Institute and the CFA Society of Philadelphia, Ed is also a registered investment advisor representative.
He has earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the CFA® Institute. This prestigious designation is awarded to financial professionals who have successfully passed certification testing and have met rigorous standards for industry experience and professional ethics.
Ed is an avid fly fisherman and active in several local nonprofit organizations. He currently serves on the Finance Committee of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank as well as the Harrisburg Academy Foundation board. He resides in Dauphin, PA, with his wife, Nichole, and their three children, Mary, Sam, and Blaine.

Fly fishing and visiting National Parks, especially those where there are good fly fishing opportunities.

I pumped gas, washed windows, and checked oil as a full-service gas station attendant.
what are your bucket list vacation spots?
South America’s rainforest.
What's the best advice you've ever received?
Only a true friend will tell you when you have a problem you cannot see for yourself. Be vulnerable and humble enough to listen.
